It all boils down to watts when it comes to volts and amperage. (Pun intended). Get out your vom and measure the milliamps that the control box consumes. Divide that into the mah rating of your battery (s) and you will get the amount of time your battery (s) will last before they drop down to 70% of their full charge value. That is what you should be comparing.

Thanks Dusty, your A Champ, I knew about the Draw by the MAH but I did not know about the 70% part of it, I am trying to think of a Battery system for my TDI SL because the OME battery is 2200mah and the Draw is surposed to be 0.460mah but I have some 2600 AA's But I would like some around 3100 if I can get them

I'm using a 3400 SLA on my homemade PI unit. Lasts almost forever.  Cheesy

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

Yeah I was thinking of getting an 8 Amh or A 12 Amh SLA But some how I need to work out how to get a sturdy connection to the Detector, I have thought of using the Dry Cell pack with Wires into it or maybe some form of plug in system would be better.

I mounted my battery in a plastic box under the armrest wear the stand would go. It takes the place of the stand. I then ran the wires up the shaft and brought them out just in front of the control box and attached a power plug to the end that goes to a mating jack on the control box. The battery at the end tends to balance out the coil weight.

Here's the problem Mate, the 2200 last between 4 to maybe 6 hours and when prospecting as you know you need at leased 14 hours per battery, RNB make A 2900mah but people are getting under 6 hours from them, and the factory pack puts out 10.7 TO 11.1 Volts when charged, The dry cell pack puts out 12.9 but only lasts for 2 to 3 hours,

If I use Energizer Lithium disposables the put out 1.83 Volts X 8 = 14.64 which is Good because that gives the TDI SL more power plus Depth for as long as it stays  above 10.7 volts, I IT can handle up to 16.0+ Volts easily according to Whites, So If I can get A battery that will put out Around 14.0 Volts I can get an Increase in depth That the Filter system Takes away.

Any Ideas??

Like I said it goes back to battery mah and detector current draw. To get the current you need and to last as long as you want it you will need a 6.44 ah battery. (.46 mah x 14 hours) Volts is only secondary. Use whatever voltage your detector is comfortable with and that will produce that rating (6.44 ah not mah), even if you have to hook several battery packs in parallel.

Three of the 2200 packs hooked in parallel with series coupling diodes will get you 6.6 AH. minus a .6v drop for the diodes. That should do the trick, but maybe a might heavy.

Ok, So If I buy A 8mah that should give me A Little in reserve and a supply of about 13.6 volt maximum which will last for about 12 hours keeping the power above the 10 Volts minimum I want because the Light is supposed to come on at around 8.7 Volts, And If I use the Dry Cell pack with connectors and feed the power into the Dry Pack that will work as an Adapter and All I need is some rock solid power connectors,

Sounds almost right, except that I think you meant to say 8 AH not 8 MAH. Grin Plus the time would be 17.39 hours. Radio Shack has  the power plug and jack you need.

Yes Sorry about that, its been a funny ole day, Well 17.39 hours that's more than enough, I can dig a lot of junk in that time while I am looking for nuggets, I will go next week and see what they have to offer,

Thanks Mate Your A Star.
