I love the Rocky Mtns, Was stationed at Ft.Carson Co. Sure do miss that place, one of the best duty stations I've had.

LOL!   Ft Carson was cool.

My dad and I use to go there after they had maneuvers and Pick up Can after Can of Belted 308 machine gun blanks.

We would Di cut them to the right length and reload them for hunting ammo.

God , those were the days!

You could gather up ten or fifteen ammo cans every day.

It was all open back then.

They left chit all over the place.

One time My dad backed up over a Big Azz Rock and Hung up the rear end of the Nomad Station Wagon.

Sitting there trying to figure out what to do , a Platoon of troops shown up.

The Boss  dog said we have a Job.

They grabbed the Car by the sides and Just Lifted it off the Rock putting it down about 20 ft away.

Said have a good day.

Back of the Wagon was full of Ammo Cans.  LOL

What  a Hoot.

Yep, the Good Ol Days are gone.

I was born there and so was my oldest one. The base paper ran an article about me and my kid both being born at the base hospital.

And then one of my first duty stations was there. so it has a lot of family history for me there.

Go Up Go Down

I'm-m  baa-a-a-a-c-c-k-k-kk!!  After almost 3500 miles and 15 days, I actually survived the motorcycle trip!  Another guy planned the trip and we didn't have much wiggle room on the schedule for spare activities.  So I just didn't take a detector or pan with me.   We rode down eastern Oregon, into Nevada, across Nevada and Utah, into extreme northwestern New Mexico and into Colorado.  We rode from Durango, Co up to Silverton, over the mountains and down the canyon to Ouray, CO and on to the high desert of Montrose,Co.  Next we went up through Wyoming and into Montana.  We had some very hot weather in Nevada and Utah (108F to 110F).  I wore my tires down and had to replace them in Billings, MT - I got almost 12,000 on those tires!  My riding buddy ended up buying a new bike there...  a 2012 H-D Street Glide.  Nice bike!  Then we went west in Montana, visiting Virginia City, MT and Bannack, MT and the Nez Perce War Big Hole Battlefield site.  Very interesting!  Rode across Idaho in a driving rain (worst day of the trip) and back to Oregon and home!   Great trip.  Had a great time!

Anyway, good to be back!                Detecting
