ptsd? Don't they give you meds and take your weapons? Speaking out of turn here, missed the military...high lottery number, if you remember those. Good luck on the pickup search Homie!

No they don't take your weapons, unless you present yourself as such an uncontrolled and miserable nob when you get rating from them.  I've been diagnosed with PTSD for around 10 years now and never a mention of firearms.  In fact I've purchased a few more since then.  No problems.  Took me 38 years after Viet Nam before I became involved in the VA.  Now have a disability rating of 90% from them.

Homie, I'd say it is worth the effort to get involved with them for service connected disabilities.  If you have a local Veterans Service Officer (most counties do) get an appointment with them and they can fill you in and guide you through what you need to know and do to file claims.

Same advice to you Mudflap, if you don't have a VSO (Veterans Service Officer).  On my first claims I put in it took over 11 months to get it processed and assigned a rating.

Your correct Karl. Toke it over to The Lake of  the Ozarks a couple weeks ago. Bouncing back and forth. Headed back next week to go to the Missouri state fair in Sedalia with the grandkids before school starts.  My buddy at the lake hauled in a truck load of gravel for us to park our 5th wheel on. (better leveling) Hooked up a new 50 amp. plug, box & breaker for us. All good to go with septic tank....   That's my buddy's motorcoach under his carport facing the lake on 20 or so acre's.

Looking good my friend. Have you been out on the island's detecting yet?

That is true Homie, the VA does have a hand in banning guns for certain vets.  I had a good friend who, with his wife, went to a C&P hearing and painted a horrible picture of how he couldn't handle money, couldn't make payments, couldn't remember things, and was incapable of functioning normally in the current world, that he was rated with 100% disability.  However, his wife was named and his fiduciary manager (she handles the money for his disability with the VA) and was put on the gun purchasing ban list.  He can't buy anymore guns.  He has plenty of guns and they didn't take any of his away...  he just can't buy anymore (as far as the VA is concerned).

In my case they (the VA) don't know if I have guns in my home or not.  I have never discussed it with them and won't anytime in the future.  And if it comes right down to it, I'll never admit to them of owning any.  If they ask I won't tell.

If you make the list the ATF says you can't own , posses, fire arms or ammo. Period

Good thing is if your caught it's it's just a Misdemeanor.

A bit of info.  Black Powder Arms are not considered Fire Arms and are not covered under the law.

LOL Nothing wrong with Black Powder.  It will get you what you need in a pinch.  If the shit hits the fan, all laws are null and void.

Poptop, I just related my personal experience.  I'm sure my friend would tell you horror stories from his point of view.  I've got a number of friends whose experiences are the same as mine.  In fact one friend, diagnosed with PTSD has his FFL (Federal Firearms License) and sells a lot of weapons.  He just received his 3rd class license recently.  And he is blind (service related).

The horror stories are out there, but we all need to take some of them with a grain of salt!
