I don't have an issue with zeroing the weapon, I use to set mine at ON for 200yds and it would be an inch high at A 100, and I used Appature /Peep sights for competitions out beyond a 1000yds

Leopold and Bushnell make the Best Scopes.  3 X 9 will doe most jobs out to 200 yards and a bit.    Never needed more then that.  I have glasses from Hell.  Peeps are good..  I get this fuzzy Ring in front and can just make out the Stick in front.  Yep,   Good for me.

Varmint hunting is like Sniper chit.  Shooting a Rat at 2 -500 yards.   If you can do that you can wack a man head at 600 yards easy  .243 or .270 is the ticket.   Some do well with .223 but I never much liked that round.   Home loads .243 can run 2500 fps.   6 mm going in a coyote and 12" coming out.  Nothing left in between.

I wanted the 4 to 16 for use out to 1600 - 2000 yds, for stuff under a 1000 I would go for either the fixed 10 power or the 2.5 to 12x, back home I shot my fixed 10 power out to 1700 yds, But these eyes have got a few more years on them since then, Lol

A .243 would do the job on Obama out to 1000 yards if done rite.    I want .5o BMB used  . Say Barret !  Bolt Action.    Muffler on the end, Yep that would  do the ticket.

I've seen it happen that's why i don't shoot anyones reloads no matter how great they think they are.
Most competition shooters i know are the same way.
