There were 3 hunts. First was for the ladies, second was for the men, and last was for all to find marked pennies. X was for prizes, S was for 1 Oz silver round, and N was for a 1.5 gr nugget. 200 penies. 9 with S and 8 with N. only 1 S and 1 N was found. and only about a hundred of the X pennies. You got in line with the X pennies according to how many you found. If there were ties, then they had to pick a numbered chip from a can to determine the order. It was a lot of fun. Fun is priceless.

Dusty Carl

PS. Going to another one in January.

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

Sorry Karl, no crash sites were found, and if there was, the cleanup crowd must have whisked them off. No drinking alchol at events. Family Show.
$1250 for a lifetime of fun? Cheap. The club has 200+ claims, 1200+ members national and international, A Chistmas outing, a yearly dig, a coinshoot, several potluck outings,  a spring picnic outing, monthly meetings with nugget drawings, plus I can go to any of the claims anytime to dig for gold and keep all I find. The only time I can't go is when the government closes an area for a time because of wildfires or fish spawning times, or natural disasters. What's not to like?

Dusty Carl

PS  How many peoplel spend more than that for a detector or a camper to just get to a place like that?  Spending money to have a place to go should be first priority. Don't you think?

I'm a life member of the GPAA for that reason although we have very few claims in New England.

Actually with all that , that's a pretty good deal.  And aluminum cans can be sodas etc
Clubs don't really exist here. There's one on the other side of Nashville about 2 hours from me with all the traffic it's not  for me. We had one locally but it lasted less than 2 years.

So if you got the group and the weather etc. Go for it.
