Hello from Vancouver Island.    We have some gold in some of our Rivers,  but all the easy pickings were picked in the great depression

Looks like I'm the only "frog" here. I'm from Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec. Last year I lived but a few miles from Quebec city and found a spot on the shore of ?le d'Orleans that was used at least during the second half of the 1800's as a practice range. Lots of artillery and naval shell debris and at least 2 24 pounder cannon balls. Got myself a good half dozen EMPTY Armstrong rifled cannon shells (9 pounders) and separate fuses to top them with for showing.

I like the fact that some are dated 1872 (up to 1896). Knowing that the british army left Canada between 1870 and 1871, this means I have some of the first Canadian artillery shells/fuses. I even found part of a raft that was used as target by the navy. I should have kept it but it was a little too huge to fit the trunk of my Tercel.  Grin

Pictures under the RELICS section.

You've got yourself a nice little machine. Many have found lots of stuff with the Ace250. For a beginner, no need to buy too complicated a machine like I made the mistake to do with my GTI 2500. Too many bells and whistles for a beginner like me. I barely detect a few hundred hours during summer and that's all. I'll probably do like you and go buy myself an Ace 250.

Shore detecting is lots of fun!
