This machine amazes me at the performance, and the depth at which it sends a signal. But I'm wondering if it's me, or if I should send the machine back to the factory. When adjusting the sensitivity, and the discrimination, it doesn't seem to make much difference. I picked up a small scrap of aluminum siding only about 1/2" long, with high sensitivity and low discrimination. But after decreasing the sensitivity, and turning up the discrimination level, it didn't seem to make much difference at all. Anyone have the same problem?

Try it on the same target but with different amounts of rubbish around it. See if it can sort each into its own signal. That's a better test of sensitivity. It's not about depth but it is about reactivity. If you are in a relatively clean area, keep sensitivity at maximum.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

I learned to use tone instead of discrimination because the discrimination leaves a lot to be desired I set the sensitivity knob about 4-5 o-clock position and the discrimination at 1 o-clock most coins, silver, and copper will be high tones and low tones will be gold, nickels, or foil. I dig the strong high and low signals first then I go back and dig questionable signals. Foiled

Aluminum is a nuisance! It returns really strong high tone signals no matter what because it is in the same threshold of copper coins and silver.

I dont know about your machine, but some aluminum gives a low tone or a mixed chirp, I guess it depends on the alloy. Also, deep coins will give a low or mixed tone at the setting I now use. I try to set the sensitivity as high as possible, but it gets too eratic in wet conditions, or within about 20 ft from an electric fence so I usually end up turning it down to about 3 o-clock position other than that Im happy with this machine for the price I picked it up for $80.00 like new or never used condition. You wont find many nickels or gold with it set on discriminate, I started using the tone setting, and bam, started picking out nickels, I got my first buffalo now. Happy hunting! Foiled
