I have the chance to pick-up this Discovery 1100 pretty cheap but it has an issue. The unit powers on but keeps making several beeping noises, and will not stop making the noises unless you turn it off. The detector shows some lite wear and scratches, but other than the beeping issue it seems good. I have not seen this in person, only photos. I wonder if the sensitivity is set too high/EMI or something. I appreciate any help in this matter. Thanks for your time.

The manual for your detector is too large to attach so here is a link to download it for yourself:

According to the manual, there is no factory reset for the detector but try this. Hold down the Mode switch and press and hold the Power On switch. See if that drives it into a flashing and beeping frenzy which means it is doing a factory reset.

The manual on Page 19 says you have a power issue. How are your batteries? Fresh?

I was thinking the same about the Batteries.

Bounty Hunters get goofy when the batteries are low. Cool

I contacted BH service and was told it was probably a bad search coil or a bad board.

The sad fact is that buying a new one is often cheaper than having one repaired out of warranty. Look into KellyCo for a good price on a replacement.

I hope everyone takes this lesson to heart---no matter how much you think you know, make time to read the manual when you get a new detector....and then keep a copy where you can find it  when you need it.
