I read the book by Michael Crichton named Pirate Latitudes.   Takes place in the 17th century and is a more realistic spin on pirate tales.   Crichton died and this book was found on his computer -- he just set it aside to publish it in the future.   It's a treasure tale of course.  Its a fun read.

Spielberg is already looking to make a movie of it.

Picked it up a couple months ago, was a very good read. I agree with BryantFC had a much more realistic feel than most pirate fiction. Gritty characters and a lot of intrigue. Would make a good movie for sure.

It was a great read!  Loved the characters and action and plot.  And then the round-up of the characters at the end was another treat.  I'm just sorry I took so long to getting around to reading it.  Thanks for reminding me about it TBFC!    Detecting
