As I know nothing about LRLs, but only what I have seen posted here I am just fumbling
in the dark here.

     Welcome to the human race.
Even the strongest proponents of LRLs can't honestly say they know how they work.   (And before any of the advocates of LRL's interpret the last statement as an accusation of fraud or a declaration that LRLs don't and can't work, it is nothing of the sort).   Human knowledge and understanding is in a constant state of flux....and not always in a linear progression where we know and understand more about a subject than we did 10 years or 100 years earlier since we frequently go down paths that turn out to be blind alleys.   The problem with most explanations of LRLs is that the explanations seem to violate accepted principles of physics and related sciences.  And they might, but then again there may also be principles at work that we haven't yet discovered.   Imagine the flak the early advocates of wireless radio or the developers of radar and sonar had to endure until the principles involved could be demonstrated and reliably reproduced.    And for you hard-core science minded types that think I'm putting LRLs in the same category as radio, I'm not doing that either.  I'm just recognizing that there is a lot that goes on in our universe that we can't explain with our current knowledge base.   (And pointing out that more than once in or history, it has turned out our "science" was either completely wrong or woefully incomplete).

"Just a thought!

If LRL's worked , don't you think we would all have one by now? "

Couldn't the same thing be said about wireless radio in 1875?

If there was no gold what did the LRL pick up on? This will be good.

This is true, But I never understood the Physics side of things fully
So my reply is encourage other peoples views and see where it leads

That, Seldom, is a key question in developing any technology (giving the LRL folks the benefit of the doubt).   Resolve that question in a way that is reproducible and you just might be on track to developing something that could go mainstream

This is true,

meaning yes we would all own one,

And as the laws of Physics dictate how deep different detectors go, I was hopeing that maybe something
might be out there Like Jack Sparrow's compass, (and I am not making a joke here, I am using that as a referance point)
As in having something that show us non-University types which way to go like a direction finder,

Who knows what lies within the realm of possibility.

If you had told my great grandfather that I'd be able to track my dog's movements to within a few feet from half-way around the world he would have probably have said such things are possible only in fairy-tales.   And he would have been equally skeptical about my ability to point at an object and tell you to the tenth of a degree what it's surface temperature is......heck he couldn't even get that kind of accuracy with thermometers actually touching the surface in question.

I was just wondering, you know when get your detector out of the truck and you step on to the field
or Ghost Town site and you look at a place but you ignor it and then you give in and walk over to that spot
that you have kept looking at for the past hour and a half and you make one heck of a find,
Well I wonder if that is the thing KlondikeIke was referring to and it is that, That it picks up on?
and not the Items in the ground which could be the reason for the Limited accuracy

Skeptical yep and I will stay that way till the lrl users stop the hype and give the true facts like Art did in his dowsing thread. They keep coming up with these stories that with a little common sense are easily proved bull. I was baiting them with the question about if there was no gold how did the LRL point out the cave I was waiting for the answer the gold had been removed but the LRL scoped in on the aura left by it. Are the one about a well known treasure of silver that the LRL guys claim their rods say are gold now what you going to believe a coat hanger are 200 years of documents that say its silver.
Is this stuff possible yea maybe but until the research and development is done with common sense and logic and not by con man out to make a buck we will never know will we.

Yes but science proved it could work.

Yep, but Science proved it could work and they made it work.

In the 70's Star Trek had a pocket laser that was just a dream backed up with Science.   We have it.

The Communicator was just a dream . We have it.  Cell Phone.

The long range scanner was just a dream in Star Trek.  We have it. Imaging radar.

I would be happy just to see SOME scientific backing on Any LRL!

To day there is none.  Only the Dream tainted with Fraudulent Claims followed by a pile of Fraudulent Products for sale.

Seldom, your right there we do see these dream gizmos on TV and then someone makes them,
I asked my Dad about detectors in the 80s and he said they were'nt that good and they could only
go down a couple of inches so I did'nt bother looking at buying one,
and now look where we are at with them with claims of 6mtrs +.
hopefully the LRL will travel the same road
