Been using lrl's for some time. Don't know how far out they go as I use them for parks and cache hunting for just less than a block distance, Guess if u don't believe in them then they dont work. But otherwise they do. I use a personal made one and some powered l-rods. Been working for me for 40 yrs and I can find civil war bullets with them etc. just a thought.

Every guy I know has something akin to em, except me. Since my gold and silver tally is zero this year. Guess Ill have to get me one. I know the places I suspect there may be something. The rock is so full of iron that my vlf isnt finding anything. Not sure if a PI will help.

You probably cannot overcome that if the soil is full of iron. If it's mineralized, in for form of iron oxide or iron suplhate, you can probably use a PI machine.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

You should try to get your hands on a Minelab. Never had another soil problem since going to them. Sovereign with a butterfly coil is killer and the E-Trac
is even more precise in tough areas.

Hi  shortribs

Please post a short clip on how your lrl works, also your design as I'm sure that there are many here who would like to see how it is made and how it works. I have yet to see some finds from them so please do post for us.

All the best
Xavier

GD - Well my one site is solid black and red, hard rock, iron. I can disc the iron out. but you can guess the depth is lousy. I want a pi machine anyway, just have to hunt enough coins in the park to get it, lol.

Fennix, you are the second person who has said that this week. Minelab has several to pick from. The model number had 5000 in it. Not sure I can do that lol. Im doing old work sites and campsites of mines.

Xavier  I don't have picture equiptment for the computor.  My MFD(Moleculure function disc) is the size of a half carton of cigaretts. It has some spent radiation stuff in it,so says the maker. (custom made for me) I use it and then a metal detector to pinpoint target. About like the rest of the other cache hunters. I also use an L-rod which is either a Carl anderson--simmons scientific or a custom made one.I have about 4 L-rods of different mfg.I also have a 555 function generator about the size of your hand that I plug into the ground as I use it for finding civil war bullets as I don't try to scan more than 50 feet from where I stand unlike others. It takes some time to scan an area as I don't believe in this 1 mile or 5 mile radius stuff as too many targets to get in your way. I also try to get a map first of the area dowsed by 2 or more dowsers to confirm area to be searched. I use to use an electroscope that was revamped inside for me but just sold it to buy another L-rod with powerload on it.I know most say the electroscopes don't work but I have been blessed by finding just jewelry in parks etc. Here in the usa the civil war bullets were made of lead and had up to 10% silver in the lead so u could set the 555 function gen. to silver also and find bullets.I have found bullets and a gal jar of silver dollars and a gallon jar of nickles and a small box of coins including gold coins ,this was some years back. By the way just read about you south Africans making what we call Jerky here in america forgot what you call it over their. It stated you do all your meat like that,no matter what kind of meat it is.  thanks   shortribs

It's called that in Australia and the United States as well. Depends on who's making it.

I recommend a PI machine but do not recommend giving up on VLF/TR technology. They both have uses and advantages.

I have run a lot of types all over this country, and never had better results than the Excalibur, Sovereign, and E-Trac. The only draw back is that you WILL learn to dig like a badger. The worst soil I hit was in Georgia, both in the mountains and the beach. I wanted to throw a fisher in a creek. Guess I got spoiled. Pick up a used unit.
