JCPinCt . Try the DBP2010  PI meteal detector . Itwill discriminate . If you need the schematic ask Eugene . That is if you have ever built a complicated circuit .  Regards  Cornelius

Thanks, I never heard of it, but I am new here, so I will look into it. I worked in electronics for many years, so no problem there.

I have all the files to build the DBP-2010 and a lot of circuit board photos , I have them somewhere !! .........I do not own the DBP-2010 "elektor book" which was last printed in 2004 , and still had all the schematic mistakes , the author never to this day corrected them !!! I would love to have a English copy of the book for my collection , I am not sure if one exists ? After you correct the mistakes of 3 transistors and one resistor , this is suppose to be one of the best P.I. metal detector projects you can build , even by today's standards !! I will look for the files today ..........................Regards.....................Eugene52

Eugene . When I bought the book I noticed all the mistakes ther guy made . I called him but he got so snotty about my remarks that I had the Publisher stop publishing the book . So it is not for sale anymore . After I straightened out the mistakes it turned out to be the best PI detector I ever built .  The two filters will take care of the discrimination . This take a little adjusting so I am contemplating having this done automaticly. Don't have the time to do that though . I am quite bussy at the moment . Even by manual adjustment the unit works fine .   Cornelius Teach

I already have a high quality pulse as it is. An Eric Foster ( a great builder and designer of pulse detectors) Pulse Power Aquastar 11 which goes 15" or so on a nickel. It just won't discriminate much, other than hearing a double beep on some iron. Are you saying this will do a good job of discriminating out iron and other items such as pulltabs? If so why hasn't anyone put this into production? As far as I know, there is no mass produced pulse that can really discriminate. I wouldn't want to waste my time on building something that isn't going to make a big difference.  Of course there was the Pulse Devil that was to do that, but that has never materialized. I find it hard to believe this DBP2010 detector has the ability to do really good discrimination and yet isn't being built all over the place. If you have one built, please tell me just what it will and can do. Thanks, John.

John  , the DBP2010 is the best PI detector I ever came across . Now you may not believe that , and that is up to you . I am not trying to sell any PI detector . I am just trying to point you in the right direction . But ..... if you already have a detector that suits you than there is no use in further discussion about this subject . We will discuss this further if you see the need for it . Regards  Cornelius

I am always looking for a better detector, especially a pulse that discriminates well. You didn't answer my questions, you built one of these, can you please answer the questions I asked about it? I am in no way trying to discredit you or the detector, just trying to get more facts about it.

Hi, did you find the diagrams and photos? I would like to see them and the control setup that it has. Thanks, John
