I hope you experts of metal detecting in water can give me some help for a particular search area.

to make a long story short..
after investigation i identify a good area to look for WWII relics, but this area is under a bridge in a dirty river. The river is not so deep (1 - 3 feet) and the bottom is mostly fine sand-mud, the flow is very slow but the water is so dirty so i never consider diving inside.

i'm not experienced water hunter, so i'm asking for tips or thing to consider before search and how to dig, maybe i need to use some of those scoops used in beach search ? visibility in the water is zero.

When you get a signal, put your foot behind the loop, keep your foot there then place your scoop in the front of the tip of your foot then dig away.
