Hi Mike,  Waveing Waveing
Eileen n I are beach hunters and do it all year round.
We keep a close eye on tide times moon phases and equinoxes.
We also keep written records and use the info along with the above to try to get the most out of each of our beaches.  Rider Rider
Generally we always do better in the second half of each month.  Wise Wise
Of course there are always the odd exceptions.  Funny
I see you've got an Ace 250 as well, how long have you had it and how often do you hunt, and for how long do you hunt each outing?
They're great wee machines, we've had ours 2 1/2 years.
We've paid for both machines 5 times over in that time.  Laola
WE hope you're having a ball with your Ace.

Hi Ian and Eileen,
I got my Ace 250 in March 2006, so I?ve had it 3 years now. I don?t get out that much during the year, so when I do go detecting I stay out until it gets dark. I sometimes go out on weekend rallies as well.
Did you see the photo of the gold ? Stater I found on a rally last year, its posted on the ?My Best Finds? Message Board.
I?ve never been detecting on a beach yet, I?ve heard that the Ace 250 pretty good on sand. How do you get on with it, does it have any peculiarities on the beach.

 Best regards Mike.

Sorry bout the late reply Mike,  Sad
The Aces are fantastic on the dry sand, Great Great
but they don't like the damp or wet sand.  Cry
Wet sand needs very low sens as little as 2 bars
but will still find down to 6 inches.  Clapp
Sens has no bearing on depth, only sensitivity to everything under coil
including wet sand and pinheads of foil. Mad Mad

Hi Draai

Love that opal ring How deep down was that?   That opal looks the sort they find at Cooper Pedy it is usually mixed with mudstone and you can find some pretty big lumps all mixed up together makes a good display sample .
