Hello Maria, It' been a while since I have been here. I have been on Clearwater and Treasure island beaches and actually Oro said it best, any beach you can get on is good. It is just like the old saying "gold is where you find it". That sums it up nicely. I found many coins all current but in abundance for sure. I think I spent 4 hours(it was very hot day) and came away with about $15 worth of coins. I also had to feed the parking at St Pete beach parking lot. Right now it is ideal weather conditions for Florida beaches.

Made my first trip to Clearwater Beach to do some detecting and must admit that the areas I went over were relatively clean of junk.  Only a small number of the usual pop-tops and bottle caps.  Started out with a find after only ten minutes of sweeping.  Found a gold and black onyx earring for my efforts.  Looking forward to going back again when I have some more free time.

Smiley I am a local, just detected bradenton beach today. Did not find much, due to sand replenishment. Any other locals who metal detect? Is there other beaches in the area that have produced in the past?

Go Up Go Down

Hi.  I go to those beaches often -- usually several times a year.   Most frequently from Sarasota beaches down to Boca Grande.  But unfortunately did not try thunting.   But I have seen plenty of MDting on every trip and I've asked to see there finds.   Some looked pretty good -- lots of recently buried tourist treasure.   I have seen people most frequently hunting at Manasota Key Beach and at Blind Pass beach just down the road from it.  That's in the town of Englewood, which is in Sarasota county.  I know there are "regulars" at these spots.   If you don't find treasure, you can find a heck of a lot of petrified shark's teeth.    I've found several thousand of those and some are worth good money.  If you have kids, the shark teeth hunting will keep them busy walking beside you at these beaches.   I saw that a couple of times with thunters.    I've also seen some hunters at Siesta Key, but not as frequently and its normally hard to park there in the winter.   I've only seen thunters at Bradenton a couple of times -- it was probably treasurecuda.   I have occasionally seen Thunters at South Lido beach in Sarasota at the large white sandy point and at the large sandy beach park at the south point on Boca Grande Island.   Sorry I can't be more helpful.

I imagine there are a lot of people that can speak up about these locations on this site.   I plan to be going there myself again soon and I might be allowed by my family to look this time.   Smiley
