Hunting the 1715 Plate Fleet

In the beginning when the wreck was first discovered, it was noticed that coins were being found on the beach after a storm. Of course these later led to the wreck being found. But, they never have found the main ballast and treasure pile, so they keep searching. Do find coins and occasionally other artifacts in the water. If you go back into this topic further, you will find more discussion on this site. It is interesting.

That is your theory, but it has not been proven, you should give it a try if you are near there. I'm sure if you found the site of the main load they would give you a cut. I feel that much of it may be under the sands of the state park, on the left side of the inlet, that had been filled in years ago, but there is no way to prove that for sure. I think much of where the main wreck lies may have depended on which way the wind was blowing and what tide it was running with. A high tide could have run it inland to where I suggested, where as a low tide could put it where you say. I have never checked into it as I am too far away to ever bother about it.
