Thanks for the replies. I thought those little boxes were where people had found artifacts or coins.

How would I find maps that showed what areas were leased? Is that online anywhere?

The information about the wet area between the tide lines explains why I was told to stay below the high tide line when detecting in State Parks.

That site I provided shows the locations.

I have no Idea how larg there Claim is.

You would have to contact the holders to find out.

Just stay within the tide lines and all will be well.

Back in the 80's we went out there and people I took found 11 Reale's.

Bummer it was, I found the area and they did the finding.!

I think those marks are the claim!

I wonder if the mapped areas are still the same as they were in 2001?

Yes the areas are the same as 2001. Easiest and safest is to keep out of the water with a detector from 1 mile north of Sebastian Inlet to 1 mile south of Ft. Pierce Inlet, that is pretty much where the Fisher lease is.

I have been wondering if I was able to dive between the clains as well as the jupiter inlet.....  Does the florida law prohibit detecting in the water out of the claim areas?

For sure you can't dive in Jupiter inlet due to the water current and boat traffic. Plus when the lake water flows in it turns dark. If you mean where the wreck area is, it is a lease also, but by other people. It would be real hard to dive between the Fisher sites as most do overlap, and if there are any that don't, it would be too hard to fight in court if you got caught even close to their claims. Their word again't yours and they have the state on their side. Detecting in water is legal, but you aren't allowed by law to touch anything you find that may be historical artifacts or treasure. Kind of kills the deal.

I have dived in inlets before where boats frequent... It just depends on the depth and never ascend where the boats cruise.. I crawl up the beach... I was thinking about the inlet as there has to be some sort of line of demarkation... I am thinking parallel to the beach.... I am thinking the heavy storms might have move some stuff up the inlet.. It has the least resistance....

From the direction the trail of the Jupiter wreck stuff seems to come from, it doesn't look like much would have been in the inlet (if in fact any of it was blown near the beach at that time) but more likely it would be deep under the present beach area and a bit further inland, which has been filled in mainly with sand from the inlet, and in some past times from sand off shore. They dredge the inlet every so often, they just did it a few months ago, they sucked sand from it and put it on the beach. If you check on the history of the inlet, then you will find that it has changed quite a bit, especially near the entrance where the jetty is. Maybe where they dredged in the inlet there could be something, but nothing ever came up on the beach so it is doubtful. The area is leased and is currently being worked by the Polly-L mentioned in earlier posts.
