I know that some of the members that live closer to the beach than I will answer this question for you.  In the meantime, though, if you either use the search functionality at the top of the page or scan the previous posts on this board, I'm sure you'll find some excellent ideas of when and where to hunt at a busy beach.....first clue it's better to hunt before or after it gets busy.  (use the time while it is busy to scout out the areas where people congregate and are likely to lose coins of jewelry.)   

When it comes to tips, tricks and learning how to figure the best areas to hunt, you can do a lot worse than getting your hands on the Beachcomber's Handbook by Warren Merkitch.
