Go Up Go Down

To start off with, my name is Chris and I have been living on Grand Cayman island for about 9 years now. I have been detecting all along 7 mile beach and other areas on this islands for 5 of them. I am out A LOT! So there are a lot of people that know me and that I metal detect. With all that being said. I got a tip that there was a VERY high dollar ring lost and the women could not and did not ever find it. It has been about 6 months and it is in a fairly remote location. I went to look for it a couple of weeks ago and saw Mr. Mike, a friend I see running on the beach every morning. So I was asking him if he knew anything at all about this ring. He lives right there so I figured he may have some information. Unfortunately he didn't know anything about the ring I was talking about......Here's where the story gets really cool......His neighbor of like 30 years starts to tell me this story of a lady that used to come to Grand Cayman with her mother some 15 or 20 years ago. Her mother had become ill in her age and did not make the trips to there condo on island anymore. So the daughter on one of her trips to island decided to get some sand in a mason jar and take it back to her mother to remind her of the island. While doing so, she lost her $45,000 dollar diamond ring in the surf. For 5 years they came to the island with metal detectors looking for the ring but never had any luck. The insurance company had paid off the ring, so they finally threw in the towel and gave up. The lady really just wanted her original ring back. Anyway...5 years later, the mother passes away. At the funeral, the daughter pours the beach sand out of the mason jar onto her mother's grave and out falls the diamond ring that was lost 10 years earlier....HOW CRAZY IS THAT??? The lady actually called the insurace company to tell them and to see what she should do and the insurance agent that was talking to her said that the claim was over 10 years ago and he was going to hang up the phone with her and pretend he never had that conversation with her....I have known Mr. Mike for pretty long time time and he does not strike me as the type to make up a story like this. The lady apparently still owns the condo there and still visits. This was not the ring I was looking for, but it was in the same spot. I will probably never find it but I always keep these in the back of my head and when bored, I will go back and look every so often. You never know. The most expensive ring I have found here is $25,000 Leo diamond ring, with the enhancer band, total of 4 1/2 carats. The ring I was/am looking for is $85k....Sorry to say there will not be a video of any HIGH dollar rings being made.

Hope you all enjoyed the story, I did,
Chris

Neat story Chris. The only high end rings I have been finding lately came from beer cans.... Grin

good story.
But dont forget that 9 times out of 10 people think that they lost something right at the spot that they realize that they don’t have it.

Thanks Chris,

I enjoyed the story, which actually had me sitting on the edge of my seat and biting my nails wondering if I should score roundtrip tickets to Grand Cayman...LOL

Cheers,  Great

That is a cool story, the funny thing is that I thought that the ring may be in the jar.

Have fun
