Kangaroo Island is an island off the coast of South Australia in the early years the fir sealers of a very wild unsavory bunch lived on the island occasional kidnapping aboriginal women for slaves. Many stories and legends surround them. However it was a shipwreck dating from 1853 called the Osmanli.
There were many passengers returning home with their gold and sovereigns. In the chaos of shipwreck most of the gold was lost. One passenger named Timline forgot his 2 bars of gold in the wreck. Several sailors died trying to retrieve sovereigns and gold. Others claimed some of sailors had stolen the gold buried on the beach and drowned trying recover more on the ship wreck on the sand bar off shore.
The passengers and crew was spent some time living on the beach before they were eventually rescued. There to this day might be two gold bars buried somewhere on the beach. The beach called d’estree bay where the shipwreck happened was on the southern side of Kangaroo Island.
Was there a treasure buried on the beach consisting of 2 gold bars? If so would be a nice reward for the casual treasure seeker.
There is another unconfirmed secret on the island. In 1897 an alleged discovery of gold reef known locally as the Cuttlefish reef. It was at the time deemed un-financial to mine. However the presence of gold established on the island begs the question are there any more profitable gold reefs yet to be discovered?
Being a relaxed island location with beautiful scenery is a treasure in itself, having two treasure legends to explore the island is a bonus. A treasure to search for wilth all budgets.
