Deer ticks here in US. They carry a nasty virus called Lyme disease, named after Lyme, Connecticut where it was first identified. It is a debilitating  joint disease that is very hard to diagnose and by the time it is found your a sick puppy. The medical profession is still arguing among  themselves on how to treat it. They came out with a 2-shot preventative inoculation, then a year or so after that they quit offering it because a large  percentage of the people receiving it got arthritis in later life!!!  Course I got the shots  Amen

   It it Bits or Stings we most likely have it here.   Mosquito here carry a few nasty things.  West Nile, Zika, a few other minor ailments.  The Ugly one is  encephalitis !

I think the UK will see a rise in nasty critters in years to come.  The winters are milder and there is already evidence of overseas insects surviving where they never used to.
