A conflicted story. On one hand a sad indictment and glorification of ongoing global corporate bastardry. On the other an understatement of the ongoing furious struggle of the oppressed and abused.
Ok Tedi, Bouganville, and more recently the Brazil disaster are the tip of the iceberg of the bastardries swept under the rug. ALL of Australia should remember and honour the Eureka rebels, and Aboriginal Australia, whose struggle against genocide, displacement, destitude and Human Rights abuses is ongoing, but likewise swept under the rug, as these are the epitome of the true Australia.
The whoring of Australian jobs, industry, commodities and land, by the elitist facilitators of corporate criminality, and their design of criminality for profit and oppression, are the most heinous of crimes, paling all else.
I am absolutely certain both my grandfathers would be rolling in their graves to think that they fought in WW2 for this outcome.
My Great,Great,Great Grandfather was a sealer and whaler who jumped ship to escape the oppression of likewise bastardry. He built his own ship and sealed out of Victor Harbour, and later Kangaroo Island, with an all Aboriginal crew, and was buried out of Penneshaw in 1836, aged 78.
My loyalty is to my forebears, the Aboriginal people, and my country. Not to the bastards who have stolen and whored it.
