I've never been metal detecting there, but in the past used to pop in quite often. What do you need to know?
If you intend to do a bit of detecting on their beaches, don't expect to find too many historical items as a lot of the touristy-area seafronts are reclaimed land using sand imported from Malaysia and Indonesia. Some places are composed of sanitized garbage landfill too. I don't know if it's allowed to detect and dig on the outlying islands around Singapore but I believe St John's island should have some artifacts, and as far as I know, there were no land-reclamation works there.
