A few years ago one or more pieces of the Amber room came up for sale at an auction house. The sale was obviously halted, but does anybody have any more details on this?

Hello Craig,

I only know that couple of years ago two pieces showed up. They had been stolen by some German soldiers back in WWII. I assume that it might have been them that turned up at an auction.

Good to see you back here! Hope you are doing fine!

Sincerly,

Christian

Can someone explain more about the "Amber room"?

Rumor has it that 2 panals were found some years back.

an other rumor has it that most of the panals went down on a German ship that had about 7000 people on it..it was sunk by a Russian Sub..most of the people drowned..it was during an evacuation.

Here is a link to that ship

Hello Christian!

Do you know if the soldiers were involved in the removal of the amber room from Russia or if they had just been assigned to guard it somewhere? Were the identities of the soldiers ever revealed?

Hello Caig,

I think I would need to look it up but from what I remember the soldiers had removed / stolen the pieces BEFORE the Amberroom was transported to K?nigsberg.

Thus their discovery gave no new clues / evedince to wheter the Amberroom had survived the war or not.

Sincerly,

Christian

This is another of those stories where you don't know which one to believe. While I beileve the actual room existed- Their seems to be a lot of variations as to what the room was really made of.
