You can buy a Piper Cub in flying condition for $12,000 at the Plane Trader Mag. With that much damage, I would estimate your plane is worth less than $6,000.

Just how many people do you know who have salvaged an airplane?

Go Up Go Down

when am I going to be going out?"
Well My partner "Doc" and I are planning on a 12 month or longer trip beginning
this coming March...
We don't have a definite day yet !
Our first stop, will be to see if me 5yrs of field work has paid off!    Tongue
I believe, from all indications and hiking around The Atacosa Mnts ..
That I have finally located The Pure Conception Mine!
It is a Spanish Mine that was used to cache several thousand silver bars
AND!
Some "Church" Documents & relics!
 So!
This trip down there, some 30 miles NW of Nogales, is not to "hunt" for the Mine!
But!
To see if I DID! Find it!
Anyone care to lend a hand in recovering those silver bars?
Just drop a note/PM here or Email me (see "profile" for email address)

Hey cap...not trying to impinge on your endeavors, but my dad built a J3 Piper Cub in our garage as a kid, and I don't really see what it is that you want so badly with this aircraft.  the damage that you have described is extensive... the bent prop is a dead give away...if a prop strike does occur you are looking at rebuilding the entire engine. this is a small two place (one behind the other) aircraft, that even the instruments you would recover are very very basic in terms of worth, such as; turn slip indicator, artificial horizon, tachometer, altimeter etc.  the body of this aircraft is covered in fabric and that alone contributes to the actual warping and disfigurement of the metal upon impact because there is less strength structurally to begin with.  What is it exactly that you think you want to salvage and I might be able to feed you so information, even though you are probably researching on your own.  I grew up around this plane and have aviation history running deep within the family blood.  I also am a former Marine Infantryman Combat Veteran and live in Utah.   Semper Fidelis

Have a Lat/Long so maybe we can see it on Google Earth?

What about this one??? Can't see any plane on Google Earth, but this is from the official records of the Arizona Crash Locator Database.

35 18N
111 42W
August 6, 1983
Piper Super Cub
N7699Y

Aircraft N-Number Database Information is at the link below.

Or this one??

34 48N
112 10W
Unknown
Piper
NC3206

According to the database, these are the only (2) Pipers that match your description, more than likely it is the first one as the second is just listed as Piper, and the N number is not valid.

Sure would like to see some pictures of your salvage operation eventually.    Smiley
